Philosophy & Approach

As battle-hardened as our decades of litigation experience have made us, we never lose sight of the fact that our relationships with our clients are deeply infused with one overriding moral precept: we represent our clients exactly the way we would want to be represented in complex litigation. To us, that means supplying representation that is smart, creative, aggressive, careful, extremely responsive and accessible, fairly and clearly priced, and efficient. At the same time, our representation is tempered with sound judgment, and enhanced by an ability to relate to others (including opposing counsel, judges, juries, and arbitrators) and our commitment to doing what is best for our clients at every stage of the matter — from pursuing informal resolutions to picking a jury and going to verdict. Because we would want the same information, we advise upfront about the anticipated costs of our streamlined representation and billing practices and the range of potential outcomes, and we continually communicate on status without the need for reminders or prompting. We are personally invested in our clients, so their problems become our problems, and we handle those problems accordingly, with the utmost attention and commitment, so that our clients can freely pursue their businesses and their other responsibilities.

ERTW was formed with a focus on the development and maintenance of strong and durable relationships with its clients, many of whom have been closely-affiliated with our lawyers for years. We foster this client-centered approach by focusing on our clients’ objectives in the matters on which we work in the context of the clients’ broader set of needs and goals, both immediate and long-term.
